What is ISO 14083?
ISO 14083:2023 is the international standard for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions from transport chain operations. It builds on the GLEC Framework and defines well-to-wheel (WTW) emissions per transport chain element.
How does ISO 14083 relate to CSRD?
CSRD requires companies to disclose Scope 3 emissions under ESRS E1. Upstream and downstream transport (Scope 3 categories 4 and 9) are often material for shippers; ISO 14083 provides a recognised, auditable method to calculate them.
