Container tracking / MSC tracking
MSC tracking: check your container number first
Paste an MSC container number (MSCU, MEDU, MSDU…). We validate it against ISO 6346, confirm it really is MSC equipment and point you to the milestone history — free and without an account.
Free ISO 6346 check: we verify the container number, its check digit and the owning carrier before you waste time in a carrier portal. No account needed.
How MSC container tracking works
1. Validate the number
Confirm the 4 letters + 7 digits shape and the ISO 6346 check digit. Most 'container not found' cases are simply a typo.
2. Confirm the carrier
MSCU, MEDU and MSDU are MSC prefixes. If the prefix belongs to another line, searching MSC's portal will never return a result.
3. Read the milestones
Gate in, loaded, sailing, transhipment, discharged, gate out. The last event plus the ETA is what your customer actually asks for.
4. Automate the follow-up
One container is a lookup; fifty containers is a process. Automatic polling and delay alerts replace daily portal checks.
Container number vs bill of lading
A container number identifies the physical box and returns equipment milestones. A bill of lading or booking number identifies the shipment contract and links documents, parties and charges. If you need the full shipment picture — including demurrage and detention risk — track the booking, not only the box.
